About Me…

Nancy Bariluk-Smith is an abstract artist creating expressive, bold, and colorful works of art. Living near the ocean in Southern Maine, Nancy is inspired by the colors and dramatic ever changing New England landscapes.

Through her work she strives to bring what she appreciates outside inside to the walls of your home. Nancy believes that art can help transform a space and change the feeling and vibe of the entire room. Art can make you feel happy and that is what she strives to convey in her designs.

Each piece of artwork is an intuitive exploration in tone, color, mark making, and texture. Nancy loves the unexpected and uses a combination of natural tools, including brushes, sponges, rags, rollers, bubblewrap, sticks and her favorite tool her fingers!!

“Adding marks with colored pencils or oil pastels on top of the paint is one of her favorite thing to do. Scratching the wet paint layers to revel the dynamic colors hidden underneath is magic in the making!”

Nancy’s paintings evoke a sense of exploration and she is constantly changing and evolving as an artist just like the landscapes which inspires her.

Getting lost in the process is her main objective, seeking movement, a focal point and a place where your eyes can rest. She encourage the viewer to seek their own discovery in each piece and let the art draw you in.
